You must configure and run conv_98_00.cgi to convert your link database.

8) conv_98_00.cgi (755) - conversion script for DCLinks98 users

Getting ready to setup DCLinks
===========================================================================
In order for DCLinks to work on your server, your web site
must support Perl CGI programs. If you are not sure, please
ask your ISP before your proceed.

Following setup assumes that you can run Perl cgi programs
in your "~/cgi-bin" directory where "~" denote the full directory
path to your cgi-bin directory.

1. In "~/cgi-bin" directory, create a subdirectory called "dclinks"
2. In "~/cgi-bin/dclinks" directory, create a subdirectory called "Data".
Please remember that "Data" is with "D" and not "d".
3. chmod "~/cgi-bin/dclinks/Data" directory to 777

Configure DCLinks cgi files and setup file
===========================================================================
1. Edit dclinks.cgi and dcladmin.cgi

- By default, dclinks and dcladmin points to /usr/bin/perl.
If this is the correct location of Perl 5 on your server,
then replace the first line (#!/usr/bin/perl) with
the correct path to Perl 5 on your server

- Specify $cgidir. This directory is "~/cgi-bin/dclinks".
You can try "." and see if that works. If not,
find out what "~" directory is and set $cgidir to "~/cgi-bin/dclinks".

2. Edit dclinks98.setup - you will need to modify most of the variables
defined in this file. At minimum you'll need to specify:

$platform
$cgiurl

See dclinks.setup for more details.

Installing DCLinks98
===========================================================================
1. Upload following files to ~/cgi-bin/dclinks directory

dclinks.cgi
dcladmin.cgi
dclinks.setup
dcprotect.pl
dclinkslib.pl
dc.htmlt
cgi-lib.pl
dclinks.cgi

MAKE SURE YOUR USE ASCII MODE WHEN YOU UPLOAD THESE FILE!!!

2. chomd dclinks.cgi and dcladmin.cgi to 755

That's it! The dclinks URL is

$cgiurl/dclinks.cgi

and the dcladmin (admin utility) URL is

$cgiurl/dcladmin.cgi

3. At this time, you should also configure your admin setup.
- point your browser to $cgiurl/dcladmin.cgi
- from the login window, choose REGISTER
- Register as an admin - the first person who registers
is the admin.
- Once registered, login using the username and password
- choose "Admin Setup" from the menu
- turn OFF "Allow users to register" and "Activate User on Register"

Customizing DCLinks
===========================================================================
- You can easily edit dc.htmlt file to customize this links pages...
- Be sure not to mess up various variables in this file...These are:
$HEADER
$SUBHEADER
$MENU
$HTMLOUTPUT

PLEASE NOTE THAT dc.htmlt FILE USES CASCADE STYLE SHEET.
IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH CSS, PLEASE REFERENCE
ANY HTML BOOKS.

- If you want to add more categories, you must edit
@drizware.comup file.

@drizware.comManaging your Links
===========================================================================
There are couple of ways to manage links in your database.

1. You can use dcladmin.cgi to edit and remove links
2. You can loggin as admin and then manage the links
directly from the links listing. When you are logged in
as admin, you will see D and E links below the link IDs.
Clicking on D will delete that post and clicking on E will
allow you to edit that link.
