The scripts main purpose is to let visitors and yourself know that someone has tried to enter a directory that you don't want them to have access to. Of course other reason for making this script is to protect our directories that don't have an index.html file. Most servers require so that your directory files are not exposed. PryTracker will email you the details of an unauthorized visitor trying to take a peek at your directories. The script also writes the attempts to the PryTracker.txt file, just incase your email is not working. It's a good idea to empty this file every month. (that is if it's full - must mean you have a lot of special files people want :) INSTALLATION: Edit the USER CONFIGURATIONS in index.cgi. Upload to the directories you want to keep an eye on. Upload PryTracker.txt. PERMISSIONS: chmod 755 index.cgi chmod 777 PryTracker.txt .HTACCESS Depending on how your server is configured, it may be necessary to tell it that index.cgi is your directories index. Upload this file along with index.cgi into any directory you want to protect.
